Way before cell phones... I was on the cordless telephone all the time. Running a sign business required answering many questions left on a "telephone answering machine" when I got back home from client visits. This song has a type of reggae beat, an island sound. Money was flowing in through working 18 hrs each day: designing, carving, and installing wooden signs. My life with visual art was relegated to graphic design for the signs. And my musical life would soon end with the last and final Hit Machine Volume 6....coming up.
lyrics
I think the telephone is a fine thing
You can phone and try it..hear it ring
Phone your granddad in the Rapids
Phone a call girl in the papers
Its a fine thing
You can phone a person far away
You can phone your neighbor just to say..Hey
Or maybe lonely late at night
You can phone a girl and invite her over by the phone
My My I'm a Modern Lad
Telephones make me glad
You can sing to the one you love
Over lines from heaven above
Its so romantic at any time
528725
That's my telephone number to keep it alive
Phone me now to the place of the deaf
Phone me , I love my telephone too
LaLaLa..I know my zip code too
I know how to phone the operator when I'm in the mood
She can talk...talk to you too
She's another voice from out of the blue.
