The strangest melodies I had ever sung. I was "scat-singing", channeling what I thought Frank Sinatra would do with a jazz band in the 1950's. The tunes on the instruments are equally challenging. Weird and wonderful. There is total freedom here....something that Frank never achieved in his lifetime.
lyrics
My mamma said don't you go down that street, its all right if you are all alone My mama said now you look fine if you don't be blind My mamma said now don't you be bad and I said I won't walk down there My mamma said if things get friendly you will have to fine a friend You're all alone no one to take us back home now My mamma said if you are feeling fine then go downtown and have a really good time now If you play in the neighborhood sandbox just watch out Its a bad time A bad time for us all now Many things are falling apart and no one left to release us now I've been afraid most of my life of the people in the neighborhood ghetto But they let us in as a friend in their time now If you go to the ghetto time they will never leave us alone... now.
Because I've seen it
And now I mean it
Because now I've seen it...dumb
If you go down to the ghetto anytime is right now Don't you ever go down to the ghetto at anytime now Anybody what I said now.
