I had just moved to the suburbs from a city environment. There I was playing the Talking Heads song...Beautiful House Water Flowing Underground. My friends from the city had brought their instruments and we were about to record our "jam". All of us were visual artists: painters and sculptors. Music was a secondary art, but gaining in prominence for us all. It was the 1980's, all of us in our late 20's early 30's. Punk music had been replaced with disco. Groups like the New Order were even fading as everyone was dancing with cocaine. "I Saw Her" was about my wife.
lyrics
(primal grunts and moans"
I know your name from the bathhouse refrain
Come to me now
The day go bright, the night is low
Daytime light and nighttime goes slow
I can see your face in the light
Sometime lights on, sometimes going slow
I can see your face
You're looking like a girl I knew before
Sometime low Sometime I don't know
Girl in my dream...tell me what you know
Take my hand..tell me where to go
Take my brain..I'll tell you what I know
My heart and soul is breaking down
Time is right for us to grow
My head and soul need to grow
How can I tell you what I know
My heart it breaks..my soul is going round
I don't know what to say as I go round
Where do you go now? I can tell you why you know
What can I say? My head is going round
When you're in my head...I go round
